Par 3 Strategy

Something I see a lot is players not using the tee space they have been given on the tee box to give themselves the best chance of: first of all, getting on the green on a par 3, and secondly, finishing close to the pin.  Teeing up on different sides of the tee box can greatly increase your chance of both, and if you are a more advanced player, can also encourage different shot shapes.  Enjoy this video and be sure to think a little more where to tee your ball up the next time you are playing a par 3.

Something I see a lot is players not using the tee box they been given, the space that’s been given to make the shot a little bit easier. They don’t know where to tee their golf ball up. To give you a little example on that, I wanna pass three, the pins on the right hand side of the green.

So what I’ll do. So I go to the far left side of the tee as much as I can because in doing this, I’m heading from left to right that will open up the green a little. That will make getting close to this pin that little bit easier. If I was playing a hole and the pin was on the left hand side of the green, I’ll be teeing up on the far right hand corner. Again, this would open up the green a little. It will give me a little more margin for error and my shot, again, it would make a little bit easier when you get close to this left pin.

If the pin was in the center of the green, I’ll go ahead and tee-up, tee-up on the center of the tee-box. So here we go. Pins on the right hand side of the green. I’ve chosen the left hand side of the tee-box. I’ve got a good view of the pin. Hitting from left to right. This makes it that little bit easier for me to get myself a make of a birdie putt.

Now, there’s based on where the pin is. If you’re a little more of an advanced player and you’re looking to shape your shots, perhaps you’re looking to have a draw or fade on a certain hole. I always recommend if you’re trying to have a fade shot, go to the right hand side of the tee-box. Won’t get too much into the detail of that but normally, teeing up on the right, being able to swing to the left will promote and encourage a fade shot. If you’re trying to hit a draw, I’ll go with more towards the left hand side of the tee box. The opposite of that, aiming a little more down the right, swinging to the right encourages a draw shot.
