Putting Drill – Push it

Putting Drill To Square Your Putter Face

I think we’d all agree that having a square putter face at impact and a stable putter face throughout the stroke is a key fundamental to good putting. If you’re struggling getting the ball starting in line, try this simple exercise: you use a very short putt, under two feet in length, and then focus on aligning your putter face correctly. And simply from here, I want you to focus on pushing the ball into the hole. That will give you the feeling of, one, your putter face being square at impact, and staying stable into the follow through. Two, it will give you the feeling of your putter face matching the starting line of the ball, matching the putter face. It’s a great exercise if you’re struggling getting your ball starting on line. Once you’ve got a feeling for that follow through movement, impact to follow through, simply add a short backswing to the movement.
