TECHNIQUE
SET UP

Stance will be wider than in a regular setup with the feet turned out

Ball position further to the left than normal – lead foot heel as a reference

Weight posited into the left foot

The club shaft should lean slightly away from target
-
Clubface will be rotated open before taking the grip

Special bunker grip can be used – Week right hand, strong left hand
-
Posture will be lower, with more knee flex than in a regular setup

Lie of the club (shaft plane) sitting lower than it has been designed
-
Body alignment should be approximately square to the target, perhaps slightly open
BACKSWING
-
The body will be rotating but not as much as in a regular swing
-
Speed comes more from the setting (cocking) and uncocking of the wrists, and the arm motion
-
The body is a stabilizer
-
The club should go back on plane, if not slightly above plane
-
The wrist will be set (cocking) more than in a normal swing (left wrist extension)

Weight should remain on the left side as it was in address
DOWNSWING & IMPACT

Correct sequence is the club moves first and fastest, then arms and shoulders and lastly the hips

The body has very little movement until the impact area
-
Pressure stays into the left side as the club passes the body

The club head should be in front of the hands with the toe point upwards at waist high

The club will travel on a slight out to in path relative to the body line (splash mark left)

Right hand releases more underneath the left hand than in a shot release

Clubhead passes the hands quickly

The bounce of the club must contact the sand in regular sand conditions

RELEASE
