If you are working on anything to do with weight transfer, balance, or ground force in your swing, one of the best exercises you can do is to take your shoes off when you are practicing.  It can give you an increased awareness of balance, pressure and movement.   Take a few mins to watch this video and learn how this might help you.

As you can see, I haven’t got my shoes on.The reason for that is because in a good golf swing, there’s a lot of things going on in your feet and in the ground. Starting from address, maybe you’re working on your address position, trying to get a more balanced, stable address position. Taking your shoes off will give you an increased awareness of where your balance point is. Maybe you’re working on your weight transfer, both in the backswing and downswing. Again, without your shoes on, you’ll be able to sense how your weight is transferring, to what part of your foot in the backswing, how it’s moving in the downswing, and the timing of that. Maybe you’re working on more advanced aspects of footwork and using the ground, from ground force or sheer force. How you’re increasing the pressure underneath your feet in the transition and are you pushing off of your right foot into your left foot. Again advanced lessons, but anything to do with balance, weight transfer, forces involved in hitting shots, a great exercise is taking your shoes off, go ahead and hit some shots, increasing your awareness of that.
