The correct golf posture

Developing and maintaining the correct posture is important for many reason.  The correct posture will help you rotate your hips and shoulders properly, as well as encourage the correct sequence of movement.  This is essential in creating club head speed.  Also, correct posture will help  maintain your postural angles during the swing.  This can help with accuracy and consistency of contact.  Lastly, good posture can help prevent injuries.

Here’s a very simple exercise to help you develop good address posture, especially if you’re suffering with a fault C posture. C posture is where you probably have too flat a pelvic angle at address. Your shoulders will be forward, creating a very rounded look at address. This will make it very difficult to rotate, maintaining your postural angles throughout the swing. Try this simple exercise, take any club, holding the head end of the club. And then, once you’ve taken your address, have the club shaft touch your tailbone. Now, from here I want you to pull your shoulders back so the grip end of the shaft is now touching somewhere between your shoulder blades. And this will give you the feeling of a neutral pelvis and your shoulders pulled back, helping you achieve a good address posture. Once you’ve got a feel, remove the club, take hold of the club as normal, and now you’ll be in good posture.
